Peppers Soundproofing Test Delayed for Work at Theater

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Peppers Golden Bear will have to wait a while longer to learn whether new soundproofing installed at the club will stop concert noise from reverberating through an upstairs movie theater.
Tests scheduled for Thursday have been delayed indefinitely until air conditioning can be installed at the Mann Theatre complex, said Henry Penso, an executive for the development company that runs Pierside Pavilion, which houses both Peppers and the movie theaters (the theaters have not yet opened). The idea, Penso said, is to run the noise test while simulating actual operating conditions--including ambient sound from air conditioners. If the sound problem is not solved, it could limit Peppers’ ability to book loud rock attractions.
