News Corp. has appointed August (Gus) Fischer to the new position of chief operating officer. Fischer had been managing director of News International PLC, the British subsidiary of Sydney, Australia-based News Corp. News Corp. also named Arthur Siskind, an attorney with the New York law firm Squadron, Ellenoff, Pleasent & Lehrer, executive vice president for legal affairs.
