Dwight Gooden and his agent, Jim Neader, formally rejected the New York Mets’ three-year, $13.8-million deal, but talks continue.
Gooden is reportedly seeking close to $5.4 million a year. The Mets’ latest offer averaged out to about $4.6 million a season. Gooden is reportedly unwilling to settle for less than $5 million a year.
