Tiffany York, a distance runner at Agoura High, has made a commitment to attend UC Irvine.
York, who finished fourth in the 1990 state Division I cross-country championships, took recruiting trips to Irvine, Arizona and Colorado before choosing the Big West Conference school last week.
York, the No. 2 runner on Agoura’s state championship cross-country team last year, finished 15th, 16th and 12th in the state meet from 1987-89.
She has a personal best of 11 minutes 2.69 seconds at 3,200 meters and placed third and fourth in that event in the Southern Section 1-A Division championships in 1989 and ‘90, respectively.
Irvine finished fourth in the NCAA cross-country championships last November. Six of the team’s top seven runners are expected to return this fall.
