Region : Surf Information by Phone
Information on weather and surf conditions at Westside beaches is available through a new phone system operated by Los Angeles County.
The automated voice and data system has been installed at lifeguard headquarters at Zuma Beach, Santa Monica, Hermosa Beach and San Pedro’s Cabrillo Beach.
Callers can obtain air and water temperatures, wind and wave conditions, tidal information, and sunrise and sunset data.
The service is free, although county officials may convert the system to a paid-900 service and sell promotional spots to advertisers.
For information on beaches from Topanga to the Venice/Marina del Rey area, call (213) 451-8761. For Zuma and Malibu Surfrider beaches, call 457-9701. In the South Bay, call 379-8471.
