Dalkon Shield Report May Affect Awards: A report critical of a study used to support claims against the maker of the Dalkon Shield contraceptive could lead to lower damage awards to some victims, the head of the trust funding the payments said. The report, released in April, comes as the Dalkon trust is making settlement offers to 86,000 victims who rejected an initial cash settlement and have yet to negotiate a new deal. If the victims reject the trust’s offer, they can take their cases to arbitration or court.
