WEEKEND BOX OFFICE : ‘Oscar,’ ‘Cop’ Lead a Slow Field

Talk about slow business overall. . . No. 1 for the second week in a row was Walt Disney Studio’s “Oscar,” starring Sylvester Stallone, but its numbers were hardly sizzling. Of new movies opening over the weekend, only the new Michael Keaton comedy, “One Good Cop,” also from Disney, managed to pull decent, if not strong, numbers. Another new entry, Miramax’s “A Rage in Harlem,” did almost as much business as “Cop” but in less than half as many theaters.

On the revival front, Paramount’s 50th-anniversary release of Orson Welles’ “Citizen Kane” budded to $290,978 on 11 screens in its first five days, including a spirited $34,012 at Los Angeles’ Nuart Theater. Universal’s “Spartacus,” from 1960, picked up $426,846, at 41 theaters after two weeks in the marketplace.
