WEST COUNTY : OXNARD : Car Hits Pole, Causes Outage; Driver Held

A 22-year-old Temple City man who was driving south on Pacific Coast Highway near Oxnard on Monday hit a power pole, knocking the lines across the road and causing a power outage in some areas, the California Highway Patrol said.
Craig Hernandez was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released, a CHP spokeswoman said. He was then arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, she said.
The accident occurred at 6:09 p.m. as Hernandez drove along the highway near Nauman Road, the spokeswoman said.
Power to 361 customers was out for 45 minutes. Ten customers were expected to be without power until this morning.
