UCLA’s Chris Waller was in first place after the compulsory events in the senior men’s division of the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Cincinnati. Waller had 57.35 points. UCLA’s Chainey Umphrey, Nebraska’s Tom Schlesinger and Patrick Kirksey were tied for second with 57.15. Kurt Thomas, out of competition for 11 years, was 22nd with 54.65.
