Ivan Lendl advanced to the quarterfinals of the Beckenham, England, grass-court tournament by beating Mexico’s Luis Herrera, 6-4, 6-4. Lendl, seeded No. 1, will face No. 9 Jim Grabb, who beat Patrick Galbraith, 6-2, 7-5. In women’s play, second-seeded Gretchen Magers lost to No. 5 Anne Minter of Australia, 6-3, 6-3, and No. 6 Pam Shriver defeated Lupita Novelo of Mexico, 6-2, 6-1.
