An Escondido teen-ager was killed and his five companions injured when their truck struck a utility pole on Rincon Avenue in Escondido, police said.
Bulmaro Garcia, 17, was dead at the scene, police said. The five other occupants of the truck, including the 17-year-old driver, Jose Garcia of Escondido, were taken by paramedics to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
The accident occurred about 9 p.m. Monday as the truck was going west on Rincon Avenue. Garcia hit a utility pole near Conway Drive and his truck rolled over, police said.
No arrests or citations were made. An investigation is continuing.
