Churches Debate Sex Agendas
I make no claims to knowing the mind-set of God on the sexual issues that confront mankind in the modern world, but your article “Sexual Agendas Stir Debate in U.S. Churches” (Column One, June 6) increases my concern about society’s self-willed dehumanization.
Is it the church’s role to adjust its teaching so that it conforms to the desires of the people? Is the church nothing more than another major network that must provide the programming the people want in order to avoid a drop in the ratings?
I think not! If religion has a role in society, that role must be to provide direction, direction based on whatever inspirational source each church finds relevant.
I’m human. Of course I want God to tell me that whatever I want to do is fine with him. But he’s not going to do that! God created tough love.
