The Palos Verdes Estates City Council this week approved a 1991-92 budget of $12.2 million, which includes a $3.9-million capital improvement budget and an $8.2-million operating budget, 2.3% more than the current $8.1-million operating budget.
The operating budget provides for such services as police and fire protection, animal control, building inspection, parklands maintenance and golf course operations.
“Staying at half the rate of inflation is unheard of in the private and the public sector,” said Councilman James Nyman in commending the city staff for its work on the budget. “In terms of dollars spent, we’re way, way under.”
Items budgeted under capital improvements include the construction of several storm drains along the bluffs and leading down to the beach, Finance Director Bill Yeomans said.
