Cutting Back at Fisher Park
Your recent article and editorial regarding Jack Fisher Park in Santa Ana suggested that the area residents were trying to rid ourselves of “those people,” meaning Hispanics from across 17th Street. However, one reason many of us choose to live in north Santa Ana is that we value the cultural diversity of the area.
The community does have very real drug and gang problems which need addressing, and attempting to keep a neighborhood park from becoming unsafe is a rational response. If I wanted to escape “those people,” it would be much easier to move to Newport Beach.
