The video box promises an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the pop singer. It’s behind the scenes all right--in concert and in the recording and video studios. But intimate? Not this fanzine-style puffery. Even the scenes that are supposed to look spontaneous seem planned. This video seems to be part of a grand marketing scheme designed to create an image of Estefan as warm, funny, dedicated and virtually flawless. You get St. Gloria all right, but she’s a cardboard heroine with no substance. Anyone capable of the recovery she made from the near-crippling back injuries she suffered in a highway accident has to be unusual and multifaceted. This one-dimensional portrait does her a disservice.
