The body of a man shot to death in his car was discovered by a passerby in Fallbrook, the Sheriff’s Department reported Saturday.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was found dead about 10:25 p.m. Friday on Rainbow Hills Road less than a mile north of Mission Road, Lt. John Tenwolde said.
His name has not been released by the coroner’s office pending an investigation of the death.
A passerby found the body after observing that a vehicle had been driven through a chain link fence separating Rainbow Hills Road and Interstate 15, Tenwolde said.
The man apparently had been shot at another location. Fatally wounded, he apparently lost control of his white 1979 Chevrolet Chevette while traveling south on Rainbow Hills Road, Tenwolde said.
The body had one gunshot wound to the upper body, but several bullets had been fired at the driver’s side of the car, Tenwolde said.
