Corsi Reaches Quarterfinals in Bodyboarding Competition

Phil Corsi of Ventura advanced into today’s quarterfinals of the bodyboarding division in the $35,000 Body Glove Summer Pro surfing tournament in Ventura.
Corsi will meet Chris Tennberg in the quarterfinals. Mike Stewart, the four-time national champion and current points leader, also advanced Saturday.
In the surfing competition, Chris Brown of Santa Barbara, ranked third on the pro tour, was eliminated in the first round after being cited for paddling interference.
Kelly Slater of Coca Beach, Fla., won both of his heats, increasing his winning streak to five heats.
