Assemblyman Pete Chacon (D-San Diego) should be commended for his support of a bill to ban the free distribution of tobacco in public places.
Physicians are convinced that distribution of tobacco products is a key step in a child’s experimentation with tobacco, leading to a possible lifelong nicotine addiction.
The 2,800 members of the San Diego County Medical Society applaud Chacon for his efforts and encourage other public officials to join in this effort.
