“Maria’s Story,” a simply-told but eloquent and moving documentary about a Salvadoran peasant woman who became an anti-government guerrilla after her daughter was killed in an army ambush, is finally reaching television after a long odyssey.
It airs at 10 tonight on KCET Channel 28 as part of the PBS series “P.O.V.,” attaching a happy ending to an extended struggle by filmmakers Pamela Cohen, Monona Wali and Catherine Ryan to obtain funds to finish the documentary and then to find a TV outlet for it.
The widely praised film has already had a modest theatrical release in addition to receiving awards from several major festivals.
