L.A. Gear Talked to 60 Parties: In its proxy statement, the Marina del Rey-based shoemaker says it contacted “approximately 60” potential suitors before agreeing to Trefoil Capital’s May offer of a $100-million cash infusion. Part of the deal, which is still pending, involves the nomination of three Trefoil-picked directors to L.A. Gear’s board. They are: Stanley Gold, R. Rudolph Reinfrank and Robert Moskowitz, all officers with Shamrock Holdings, parent of Trefoil. A fourth new nominee is Stephen Koffler, the Merrill Lynch investment banker who represented L.A. Gear to Trefoil. L.A. Gear’s annual meeting is set for Sept. 10.
