A 3-year-old girl who was playing in knee-deep water in Leisure Lagoon, off East Mission Bay Drive, was pulled from the water by a lifeguard Monday afternoon after she fell face forward, authorities said.
Jessica Curell was with her parents at Leisure Lagoon when she tripped and landed face down in the water about 2:10 p.m., said San Diego lifeguard Frank Powell.
Lifeguard Mike Hudson pulled her from the water and checked her for breathing problems, Powell said.
“She was spitting out a little water when she got up and was a little disoriented,” Powell said. The child was pronounced in good condition, and her parents refused further treatment, Powell said.
