Lars Jorgensen, a 1988 U.S. Olympian, had the sixth-fastest time in the world this year in winning the 800-meter freestyle in 8 minutes 2.56 seconds at the National Swimming Championships at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Sarah Anderson of San Ramon, Calif., won the women’s 800-meter freestyle in 8:48.12.
