Tailback Mazio Royster, kept out of the second half of Monday’s game against Memphis State because of a slightly sprained right knee, underwent tests Tuesday. The results will not be known until today, but initial indications are that Royster, who ran for 97 yards in 20 carries, will play against Penn State on Sept. 14.
Reggie Perry threw nine of his 23 passes after USC had fallen behind by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Offensive guard Derrick Deese, held out of the opener because of knee tendinitis, is expected to return to practice next week.
