Three Oxnard teen-agers have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 15-year-old youth walking in Durley Park, officials said Thursday.
Police said that on Wednesday the teen-agers pulled their car to the curb near the youth, whose name was not released, and challenged him to a fight. As the boy tried to defend himself, he was shot in the upper body by one of the assailants, police said.
The extent of the teen-ager’s injuries were unknown Thursday, but police said the wounds were not life threatening. The boy was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Shortly after the shooting, police said they stopped a car that matched the description of the vehicle at the scene. Three occupants of the car were arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. A gun was found in the car, police said.
