Delta Takeover of Most Pan Am Routes OKd: The U.S. Transportation Department tentatively approved Delta Air Lines’ purchase of nearly all the transatlantic routes of bankrupt Pan Am Corp. The department deferred action, however on transferring Pan Am’s Detroit-London route to Delta. Northwest Airlines, which has a major hub in Detroit and wants to buy the route, had objected to the sale. No date was set for making the route transfers final or deciding on the Detroit-London route.
