BEIJING — A giant panda at a Chinese zoo has given birth to a cub after being artificially inseminated, an official report says.
Chengcheng, who herself was artificially bred, gave birth last Friday, and both mother and cub were in good condition at the zoo in the capital of Sichuan province, the official New China News Agency reported Tuesday.
China has the world’s only wild panda population, but its numbers have plummeted in recent decades.
