HOLIDAY TROUBLE: Child abuse is growing in Orange County, and officials warn that the holidays increase family stress. . . . “Christmas brings high expectations which can’t be met, so many people take it out on those closest to them who are the most vulnerable,” says Lois Wood, head of the Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Center in Orange. The number of children in homes where abuse incidents were reported in the county last year was 28,364. But for just the first 10 months of 1991, the number was already at 28,874.
