Hospital to Close Friday; 280 Will Lose Their Jobs
- Share via
The financially strapped Beverly Hills Hospital and Medical Center will close Friday, resulting in layoffs for 280 employees, hospital officials said.
The 241-bed hospital, just outside Beverly Hills along Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles, was owned until recently by Hospital Affiliates of Florida Inc.
Administrator Louis Pontarelli said that Hospital Affiliates has turned control of the hospital over to a holding company, which is selling equipment to pay debts but still searching for a buyer.
Hospital officials said they are seeking permission from state health officials to continue operating an outpatient treatment center while the search for a new owner continues.
