Bridgeport University Lays Off 22 Professors

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Twenty-two professors at the beleaguered University of Bridgeport have been laid off in a phaseout of 31 academic programs.
The professors received pink slips Monday. Last week, about 80 maintenance workers, secretaries and administrators received layoff notices.
Interim President Edwin G. Eigel Jr. said the layoffs were based on many factors, including what courses will be taught.
