Sundevil Volleyball Coach Quits

Mt. Carmel High’s Barb Charlebois resigned as girls’ volleyball coach after 17 seasons, citing a wish to return to the classroom. Charlebois, who led the Sundevils (16-9) to the section semifinals last month and has coached three finalists since 1975, said she can no longer make the time to coach volleyball to her standards.
“I’m not one that can compromise,” she said. “I do things all the way or not at all.”
Charlebois, who taught physical education for several years, inherited three biology classes that demanded extra preparation. She said she plans to take biology classes herself, and spend more time with her husband, Gary.
