WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : CS Long Beach Defeats UC Irvine

Trise Jackson scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds as No. 25 Cal State Long Beach defeated UC Irvine, 72-53, Thursday night in the Big West Conference women’s opener at the Bren Events Center.
Kari Parriott added 16 points and 16 rebounds for Long Beach (7-2), which led, 36-34, at halftime.
Karie Yoshioka led UC Irvine (4-6) with 17 points. Kathy Lizarraga added 13 points and Geanine Hobbs had 10 points and nine rebounds.
