Coliseum Renovation

As the preparer of the draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Coliseum Renovation Project, I feel compelled to respond to your staff writer’s statement that “the report . . . is several months behind schedule” (Dec. 31). These comments imply that the EIR preparation is holding up the project. This is most certainly not the case. In fact, the EIR was nearly ready for release last summer. However, Spectator Management Limited Partnership (the developer) substantially revised the project’s design, necessitating major changes to the contents of the EIR. The revised EIR has been submitted to and accepted by the Coliseum Commission staff, and is awaiting authorization for its approval by the commission itself.
