SIMI VALLEY : Gorbachev Invited to Visit Library
- Share via
Mikhail Gorbachev’s name may soon be added to the list of former and present world leaders to visit the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library near Simi Valley.
Reagan recently invited Gorbachev to visit the library after receiving a letter from the former president of the now defunct Soviet Union, Reagan spokeswoman Cathy Goldberg said.
Reagan received the letter just a few days after Gorbachev’s resignation on Dec. 25, Goldberg said. In the letter, Gorbachev alluded to the two working together to bring an end to the Cold War and said he hopes that they will meet again, Goldberg said.
In response, Reagan invited Gorbachev and his wife, Raisa, to visit his library in California. Reagan has yet to receive a reply from Gorbachev, Goldberg said.
