Azusa : Swimming Pool on Ballot
Voters will decide in April whether they are willing to indebt the city for a new pool at Slauson Park.
The City Council voted unanimously to begin planning for the pool and directed its staff to prepare an advisory measure to be included on the April 14 ballot. The $2-million project would be financed through the sale of bonds, city officials said.
City staff recommended that the pool be outdoors, heated by natural gas with auxiliary solar power. To offset operating expenses, a shaded picnic area, which could be rented by clubs and groups, and a concession stand also were proposed.
