Arroyo High’s Nick Rios was selected as the outstanding wrestler at the 42-team Estancia tournament last weekend in Costa Mesa.
Rios, a senior, won the 152-pound division by defeating Bill Walsh of Shadow Mountain (Ariz.), the defending Arizona state champion who entered the meet with a 97-match win streak.
Rios was behind with 30 seconds left in the match before he tied the score with a takedown. He won the match on a reversal in overtime to improve his record to 22-1.
Rios is a two-time Mission Valley League champion who finished third in the Southern Section last season and second at the Masters meet.
