Forewarning Forgotten: The Irvine Co.’s layoff of about 60 employees this week shouldn’t have caught industry watchers by surprise.
In a Jan. 13 speech before the Orange County Building Industry Assn. chapter, Irvine Co. Senior Vice President Gary Hunt bluntly predicted that 1992 will be worse than 1991 for the local real estate industry.
His speech followed a more upbeat presentation by economist James L. Doti, president of Chapman University in Orange, who suggested an economic rebound by the middle of the year.
