Brooks Stays at Home: Country star Garth Brooks canceled out of Monday night’s American Music Awards at the last minute to be at the side of his ailing wife. After Sandy Brooks, 26, took ill Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport, the singer’s managers issued a statement saying she “is in a state of threatened miscarriage and doctors suggest plenty of rest. Flying is out of the question so they will travel home by bus as soon as she has stabilized and can travel.” Brooks was nominated for four American Music Awards and also was scheduled to perform his new single, “What She’s Doing Now.” The 30-year-old singer and his wife have no children.
