Black History Observance to Feature Glover

FULLERTON — Actor Danny Glover, currently starring in Lawrence Kasdan’s “Grand Canyon,” will perform Feb. 27 at Cal State Fullerton, as part of a series of free activities offered in observance of Black History Month. Glover will share the stage with actor-director Felix Justice in “An Evening With Langston and Martin,” based on the lives and words of Langston Hughes and Martin Luther King Jr. The 8 p.m. performance in the University Center is open free to the public on a first-come, first-seated basis. GRANTS: Two local foundations have awarded the Orange County Philharmonic Society grants totaling $50,000 to support general operating expenses and outreach programs. The Margaret E. Oser Foundation awarded the society $40,000, and the Argyros Foundation donated $10,000. . . . The Southern California Edison Co. has donated $20,000 toward the Huntington Beach Arts Center, slated to open in 1993. The gift comprises cash for the purchase of kitchen equipment and a donation of Edison design services involving lighting and climate control.
