Middle School Is Not a Sure Thing
The brief story in the Westside section (Feb. 2) concerning a single middle school in the Beverly Hills Unified School District clearly implied that the middle school is an approved concept, a done deal.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Since neither the district nor the members of the Board of Education have any information about construction costs at Beverly Vista or the three other elementary schools, nor about transitional costs other than capital expenditures, nor about ongoing annual costs for the program as presented, it would be the height of irresponsibility to blindly commit in favor of the concept.
Further, speculation that Beverly Vista kindergartners might be routed to other schools this fall is premature. It raises tremendous anxiety in the minds and hearts of the parents of next year’s Beverly Vista kindergartners. That’s a very unfair thing to do.
