Lakes Get a Boost From Rain

Last week’s storms have clouded most Southland reservoirs, so fishing has been spotty at best.
But you won’t get any complaints from lake managers or fishermen taking a “long-run” perspective.
Lake Cachuma, for example, has risen 41 feet since Feb. 10 and needs another 25 to crest for the first time since 1986. Cachuma, in Santa Barbara County, was among the most severely affected by the five-year drought.
Nearby lakes Casitas and Piru, whose fisheries also suffered from the dry seasons, have benefited from noticeable rain and runoff as well.
