Realtors Say House Sales Down in Simi, Moorpark

Combined sales of existing single-family houses and condominiums in Simi Valley, Moorpark and Santa Rosa plunged 20% in January, despite an increase in the number of condominiums sold, the Simi Valley-Moorpark Assn. of Realtors said.
A total of 110 houses and condominiums were sold in January, the association reported, in contrast with 138 sales in December. January’s total, however, was up 28% from a year earlier, when 86 houses and condominiums were sold.
The number of single-family houses sold totaled 88 in January, down 27% from December, but 33% more than in January, 1991. Condominium sales edged up 4% from 18 in December to 22. A year earlier, 20 condominium units were sold.
The average price of single-family houses sold in January slipped to $235,661 from $236,749 in December, and fell 6% from the January, 1991, average price of $249,267.
The average price of condominiums sold in January edged up 4% to $137,000 from $131,527 in December, but remained 7% below a year earlier, when the average price was $147,025.
