Countywide : Senior Legislature Discussion Is Today

Local members of the California Senior Legislature will talk with state lawmakers about issues that concern senior citizens at a meeting today at the Ventura County Government Center.
The Senior Legislature members will discuss issues such as the state’s health care program, Medicare and Medi-Cal, prescription drugs, liability insurance and long-term health care, said Colleen House, executive director of the county’s Area Agency on Aging.
In addition to outlining their organization’s top legislative priorities, Senior Sen. Joe Gaynes, Senior Assemblywoman Maxine Culp and Senior Assemblyman Lee Strohbehn will present their views on their group’s accomplishments and goals for the future.
State Sens. Ed Davis (R-Santa Clarita) and Gary K. Hart (D-Santa Barbara) and members of the state Assembly Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks), Jack O’Connell (D- Carpinteria) and Cathie Wright (R-Simi Valley) will be asked to respond to the seniors’ concerns.
