San Dimas : Rail Museum Considered

City officials are considering a proposal to build a railroad museum next to the Santa Fe Railroad depot.
On Tuesday, the City Council gave representatives of local railroad historical societies the green light to develop plans for the estimated $10-million tourist site. Funding for the project would come from the state and from private foundations.
City Manager Bob Poff said the city would negotiate to buy the property from the owners of Machinery & Equipment warehouse, at 115 N. Cataract Ave., the site of the old Lemon Packing House.
David Kelly, museum project manager, estimated that the tourist attraction--including a bookstore, library, exhibits and an antique toy train display--would generate $3- to $4-million annually.
