MECCA: Canada still sends the most tourists to Orange County. Australia and New Zealand aren’t far behind. But more Japanese are visiting overnight here too, says Elaine Cali of the Anaheim Visitor and Convention Bureau. “Before, they would come down to Disneyland for the day, but the majority would still stay in Los Angeles. Now they’re staying in hotels here, and spending money here and seeing what Orange County has to offer.”
Tourist Traffic
More than half of Orange County’s 1991 visitors were from the west:
California and western states: 55%
Midwest: 13%
South: 8%
Northeast: 7%
Foreign countries: 17%
