Pair Jump From Home to Flee Fire

A Studio City couple was forced to jump from the second floor of their two-story home early Sunday to escape an electrical fire that caused $250,000 in damage, authorities said.
The unidentified husband and wife suffered ankle injuries and were taken to AMI Medical Center of North Hollywood, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis said.
Neighbors in the 12900 block of Woodbridge Street reported the fire at 3:12 a.m., Collis said.
It took 25 firefighters 27 minutes to extinguish the blaze, he said.
Fire units on the scene requested police help after neighbors apparently had a confrontation with an independent news service photographing the scene and a camera lens was broken, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said.
Three men pushed two photographers and struck one of the cameras when the photographers tried to get pictures of a woman who suffered minor smoke inhalation, said Gary Arnote, owner of one of the news services represented.
Neighbors could not be reached for comment.
