HUNTINGTON BEACH — Police are looking for three men in the shooting of a 21-year-old pedestrian during an argument early Saturday morning.
Jose Guadalupe Clara-Jimenez underwent surgery at UCI Medical Center in Orange after he was critically wounded in the chest at 1:55 a.m. in the 7600 block of Amberleaf Circle, Police Sgt. Edward Deuel said.
He was listed Saturday in critical but stable condition.
Clara-Jimenez was walking across the street at Beach Boulevard and Main Street when a white-and-blue Volkswagen van drove by, Deuel said.
The victim apparently exchanged heated words with the men in the van, he said, then the vehicle followed Clara-Jimenez to Amberleaf.
After another exchange of words, one of the passengers shot Clara-Jimenez, Deuel said. The van then sped away.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at (714) 960-8811 or Detective Richard Hooper at (714) 536-5970.
