Marie Callender’s Fax Food: The Marie Callender’s in Tustin has come up with its own version of fast food.
No, they don’t serve greasy food through your car window. Callender’s is still a sit-down, table-service restaurant. Now, however, customers can order lunches via facsimile machine. That way, busy workers can send over an order and time of arrival. When they show up, they’re ushered to a table and their food is delivered within minutes.
“We created this concept to make lunch less of an ordeal,” said manager David Stenton. The fax ordering system can also be used for takeout orders--and Marie Callender’s will supply the pre-printed fax forms at the restaurant.
