Sears to Sell Apple Computers: Apple Computer Inc. said it has authorized Sears, Roebuck & Co. to sell Macintosh personal computers and printers, giving the PC giant a strategic foothold in the retail market. Apple said in a statement that Sears, the nation’s third-biggest retailer, will offer the Macintosh products through 60 office centers it opened last year in nine Eastern and Midwestern states as well as Washington.
