Mission Viejo Rallies to Score Tennis Victory

DANA POINT — The doubles team of Layth Kurdi and Brian Gruner rallied from an 0-4 deficit to defeat Joe Nguyen and John Hardgrave, 6-4, and help Mission Viejo edge Dana Hills, 97-96 in games, in a South Coast League boys’ tennis match Tuesday. The match at Dana Hills High School was tied, 9-9, in sets.
Mission Viejo (11-2, 3-1 in league), ranked seventh in Division 4-A, had trailed, 8-4, going into the final round.
Jeremy Driscoll, Dana Hills’ No. 1 player, won two of three sets for the Dolphins (7-4, 1-3).
