SANDUSKY, Ohio — A police officer has been charged with stealing at least $300 worth of Girl Scout cookies he was supposed to distribute.
Officers found eight cases of cookies and two empty cases in the home of Kenneth Hutton, authorities said. Hutton, 35, was arrested last week and released without bail. He was also charged with taking several fir trees from a nursery. If convicted, he could get up to 3 1/2 years in prison.
Police Chief Gerald Lechner said Monday that he hopes the public will not lose confidence in the department. “They know we don’t all have our hands in the cookie jar,” he said.
